Using the front-side editing engine to publish content on a portal, plus a guide to the entities that make up the Adxstudio Portals Content Management System and a rundown of the Site Map.
A Website is the core entity of an Adxstudio Portals application. A portal application selects a single Website record, and this determines what portal entities – Web Pages, Web Files, Web Roles, Content Snippets, etc. – are applicable to this application.
A Web Page represents a particular URL in an Adxstudio Portals Website, and is one of the core entities of the Adxstudio Portals content management system. Through parent and child relationships to other Web Pages, this entity forms the hierarchy of a website (i.e., its site map).
A Web File represents downloadable file in an Adxstudio Portals Website, used to store images, documents, and any other file type.
A web link can link to any URL or it can link to another web page within the same website. When a web link is to a web page, the security and publishing state of the web page will apply to the web link as well. Web links are always part of a web link set. A web link set is a group of links such as a primary navigation or a group of footer links. Web link sets allow internal, regardless of placement in the site map, and external links to be grouped together and ordered.
Content snippets are small chunks of editable content that can be placed by a developer on a page template, allowing for customizable content to populate any portion of a page’s layout easily. Snippet controls, which are responsible for rendering the content of snippets on the web-facing portal, are placed on .aspx pages by developers. For information on how to develop with snippets, see the developer’s guide.
